Procedures

Where would a bee be without procedures??  God has set up certain rules and procedures that must be followed in nature if His creation is going to continue "bee-ing"!  In our class we have set procedures as well.  They are as follows:

Absences/tardies:  Please follow student handbook procedures. Make it a goal to try to be at       school every day.  There are things you miss out on that just can't be made up if you are not here.

Leaving the class:  Never leave the classroom without permission, unless it is an emergency.  Use common sense!!  The same procedure goes when we are in the gym or on the playground.  Ask me first, unless it is an emergency.  An emergency would be if you suddenly feel sick or your nose starts bleeding...stuff like that.

Turning in your assignments:  All assignments will be headed properly with student's name, student's number, the subject (add the word homework if that is what it is, with the subject) and date.  These are all very important parts of your work.  It helps me to be able to grade and record your work properly!  Not following the procedure will give you the opportunity to do the work over!

Homework: Giving homework is a school-wide policy...every class must have homework, except on Wednesday nights.  Fifth graders are supposed to have between 50-60 minutes of homework each night.  That is how long it should take you to complete your homework...not counting the fact that you are watching television, talking on the phone, whining and crying, etc. while you are trying to do your work!!!  :)  In 5th grade we play a very fun game called HOMEWORKOPOLY that is a reward for everyone who does their homework AND TURNS IT IN ON TIME!  We also have a 100% Homework Club that I would love for EVERYONE in 5th grade to be a part of this year!!

Turning in work:  I will go over more fully in class where you will put your work when it is complete, but according to the Student Handbook you have one day to turn in the work you missed for every day that you are absent.  When you are absent, one of your classmates will write down your assignments for you and put it on your desk.  PARENTS, if you want your child's work to take home, you are to call the office by 10 a.m. and let me know.  One of our students will take it to the office where you can pick it up after school.  Please don't come to the classroom at 8:15 and ask for your child's work for the day.  I will not be able to stop class for the other children to do this.  Also, if something comes up during the day and our schedule changes, the work you have will not be what your child needs.

Classwork and projects:  Students will be given sufficient notice of tests, assignments, and project due dates.  All classwork and projects should be turned in on time!!  Please remember that I am training you for MIDDLE SCHOOL!!  You need to pay attention to dates and get things in on time.  Make it a GOAL this year not to USE EXCUSES!!  As a famous shoe company says, "JUST DO IT!"  You will have ample warning on due dates.  (You should write all due dates beside the assignment in your TEAM Notebook.)  Each day that something is late will result in a cut in the final grade.

These procedures will help you to learn responsibility!  Do not blame your mom when you forget something at home!!  :)  Make it a habit to take home your TEAM Notebook every night and bring it back to school every day with everything you need.
