CLIMATE DIORAMAS

During the first part of November we learned about different climate regions in the world.  The students were allowed to choose either a box diorama, where they would do extensive research on one climate region, or they could choose to learn about 4 differing climates and make a "quad" diorama to show the differences in the four types they studied.  This is always a favorite activity for the kids in my classes.  In addition to the dioramas, students were to write a research paper.  Since the school's Social Studies Fair is usually in mid-November, the students are encouraged to go a step farther and enter a display board of their research about climates and prepare an oral presentation.  Students in 5th grade have a choice to enter either the Social Studies Fair or the Science Fair.
